Timothy j Blied
Tim Blied works in both the Santa Ana and Fullerton Offices and focuses on business law, estate planning, trusts, real estate, and adoption. Tim is a graduate of Biola University (B.A.) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D.). Admitted to the Bar in California in 1979, he associated with Jim Schmiesing in 1980 and they have practiced together ever since. Tim is a member of the Business and Corporate, Real Estate, and Estate Planning sections of the State Bar, the Orange County Bar Association, and the Academy of California Adoption Attorneys. Tim and his wife Janel have been married for over 40 years, have four children five grandchildren. He has served on many non-profit and church boards. He is presently a member of the Board of Directors for the Sheepfold.
Jerry Mackey is based in the Fullerton office and concentrates on estate planning, tax planning, charitable and deferred giving, and in working with non-profit organizations.
Jerry is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara (B.A.) and Pepperdine University School of Law (J.D.). He has been in private law practice since 1979 and has served as legal counsel to Biola University since 1982. Jerry is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the Christian Legal Society and the Estate Planning Section of the California State Bar. Jerry and his wife Judy have been married for over 35 years and have three daughters. He serves on the board of numerous non-profit organizations and is a member of the planned giving committees of St. Jude Hospital Foundation and the University of California, Irvine.
Jim Schmiesing is resident in the Santa Ana office and works primarily in the areas of business and corporate, real estate, estate planning, trusts, conservatorships and probate.
Jim is a graduate of Loyola University School of Law in Los Angeles (J.D.) and holds a certificate in tax from the University of Southern California. A member of the California Bar since 1963, he is also admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and United States Tax Court. In 1969, Jim relocated to Orange County where he has practiced and lived since. He and Tim Blied have been together for over 30 years and with Jerry Mackey for 16 years. Jim and his wife Julie have been married for over 45 years and have four adult children. Jim is active in a teaching ministry for his church and has obtained his master's and doctoral degree's in theology.
Ron Stoddart is based in Fullerton and focuses his practice on international adoption. He is a graduate of California State Polytechnic University (B.S.) and Southwestern University (J.D.). He was admitted to the California Bar in 1974. He began his career in the business world with Peat, Marwick, Mitchell, & Co. and then served as Executive Vice President of Omnimedical, Inc. Ron entered private law practice in 1984 and merged his practice with Schmiesing Blied & Mackey in January 2000. He is a member and past president of the Academy of California Adoption Lawyers and a member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys.
Ron and his wife Linda have four children, two of whom are adopted. He is the Retired Executive Director of Nightlight Christian Adoptions, a private licensed adoption agency, and president and founder of Nightlight Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe.
Jeffrey Blied has dedicated a majority of his practice to all aspects of adoptions and the care of minors. He has led seminars for adoption agencies about the best practices in considering parental rights as well as navigating adoptions subject to the Indian Child Welfare Act. He advises both adoptive parents and birthparents throughout the entire adoption process as to their rights and duties, often including the involuntary termination of parental rights. Jeff also focuses his work on guardianships and temporary care for minors. He has been with the firm Schmiesing Blied Stoddart & Mackey for over six years where he has the continual privilege of working with his father, Timothy Blied.
In addition to adoptions, Jeff practices in Trusts, Estates, Real Estate and Corporate law. During law school Jeff received the Witkin award in Business Associations and Evidence, was on the Dean's List, a recipient of the Merit Scholarship, and graduated Cum Laude. He is a licensed California Real Estate Broker.
